Happy Caribbean American Heritage Month!
This year marks 20 years of recognizing Caribbean American Heritage Month, a moment to reflect and celebrate the movement, culture, and memory that connect the islands and the diaspora. What happens in the region shapes our communities here, and what we build in the diaspora carries back across the water.
Over these two decades, it has grown into something real: a space for cultural pride, public education, and deeper connection between the region and the diaspora. There is also real momentum across the region to unify. Passport-free travel between Barbados and Guyana begins July 1, and Martinique is moving forward with its growing CARICOM ties. Caribbean connections are deepening in meaningful ways.
Meanwhile, Curaçao, Haiti, and Panama are heading to the World Cup! Curaçao makes history as the smallest country ever to compete. Haiti returns after more than 50 years, following their legendary 1974 appearance. Panama qualifies for the second time in its history.
In that same spirit, FORGOTTEN LANDS continues to carry Caribbean voices into every space we enter, from art fairs to film and beyond. We are proud to be part of this expanding narrative, rooted in resilience, shaped by movement, and full of possibility.

A huge shoutout to our artists Andrae Green 🇯🇲 and Cyle Warner 🇰🇳🇹🇹! It was an honor to present their work on this stage. Special thanks to Commissioner for including us on their guided tours of the fair. Being featured in ARTnews' Best Booths roundup, was a perfect way to close out the milestone week.
FROM OUR COMMUNITY
Tomorrow's Ancestors: The Wall
Devin Osorio 🇩🇴 (Vol. 06) and Emma Nuzzo are creating a community-authored mural in Washington Heights, chronicling the Dominican diaspora through the lens of spirituality. Tomorrow's Ancestors: The Wall is advised by Hank Willis Thomas, Mars Ramos, Anna Indych-López, and Valey Mora, in partnership with the Dominican Writers Association.
