Volume 08 Guest Editor
Deja Aaliyah Belardo
We’re excited to announce Deja Aaliyah Belardo as the guest editor for FORGOTTEN LANDS Volume 08! A curator and painter based in New York City and originally from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Belardo is currently the Associate Curator of Visual Art and Civic Programs at The Shed. Their curatorial work is grounded in supporting boundary-pushing artists, with a sustained commitment to those historically marginalized within the art historical canon.
Belardo’s professional experience includes work with institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art and Pace Gallery, as well as participation in the Museum Professionals Seminar and Arts Leadership Praxis at The Studio Museum in Harlem. Alongside serving on jury panels and contributing to public programs, they maintain an active studio practice as a painter and collaborate on independent projects with artists, galleries, and nonprofits across the Caribbean, New York, and the United States. Volume 08 will unfold under their guidance, shaping a layered conversation across art, writing, and world-building just past the horizon.
The deadline to apply is February 6, 2026.
TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Amanda Bradley
We’re thrilled to congratulate Amanda Bradley 🇧🇿, FORGOTTEN LANDS Partnerships & Programs Director, on being selected as a 2025 Art and Tech Expansion Fund recipient from the Knight Foundation. This support will launch Between Currents, a long-envisioned, open-source digital space dedicated to supporting, archiving, and inspiring Caribbean cultural production.
Rooted in Amanda’s experience as a first-generation Caribbean American, Between Currents takes the sea as both metaphor and meeting point, holding space for movement, belonging, and collective imagination. We’re excited to see this project come to life and proud to celebrate Amanda’s vision, leadership, and commitment to community-centered Caribbean futures.
