FORGOTTEN LANDS 2025 Annual Report

Before the new year gets into full swing, we're taking a moment to honor all the artists, collaborators, spaces, and community members who meaningfully shaped 2025 alongside us. Amazingly we hosted 16 events that showcased 50+ artists. From our January opening at MoMA's Creativity Lab—featuring the Neo-Carib Visions film screening, blackout poetry with Yaissa Jimenez, and conversations with Simon Benjamin, Devin Osorio, and Dr. Margarita Lila Rosa—to our December gatherings during Miami Art Week, this year has been defined by intentional connection and creative exchange.

The journey in-between was rich with moments of connection: presenting Poemas de Sal y Tierra at homework gallery in Miami, leading community activations at The MET's Michael C. Rockefeller Wing reopening, curating our reference library at 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, and hosting the Diasporic Dialogues panel at The Shed. And we can’t forget the celebratory release of Volume 07: Poetics of Architecture at MoCADA, guided by guest editor Shameekia Shantel Johnson and featuring artists Abigail Lucien, Julian Alexander, and Kearra Amaya Gopee in conversation. Finally, in large part to you, we were able to donate over $2,000 to Hurricane Melissa relief efforts.

Thank you for being part of our journey this year! We look forward to continuing to build, imagine, and gather with you in 2026!

With love & gratitude,

The FORGOTTEN LANDS Team

We’re hiring an Art Advisor!

We're looking for someone special to join our team—a part-time Art Advisor who's ready to help us grow. As we move into 2026, we're expanding into new territory: more art fairs, exhibitions, and opportunities to support the artists in our community. This is a chance to be part of building something from the ground up—helping shape what FORGOTTEN LANDS looks like as a pop-up gallery and ensuring our network of artists has the platform and support they deserve. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, we'd love to hear from you.
