Studio Salon: Volume 08 at the Studio Museum in Harlem
📍 144 West 125th Street, New York, NY
Studio Salon: Volume 08 Crossing the Horizon at the Studio Museum in Harlem🗓️ Friday, October 16 | 2PM - 8PM
Join us to celebrate the release of FORGOTTEN LANDS Volume 08: Crossing the Horizon, on Friday, October 16, from 2:00–8:00 PM at the Studio Museum in Harlem, as part of their Studio Salon series. A full day of conversation, sound, and community around the ideas that shape this issue. Guest edited by Dejá Aaliyah Belardo, the volume reframes the horizon not as a border but as a threshold, where memory drifts, ancestral knowledge surfaces, and the Caribbean opens as a realm of possibility.
The day will feature:
Dialogue I: Memory, History, and the Haitian Imagination with Edwidge Danticat, Dantaé Garee Elliott, and Manuel Mathieu
Sonic Activation: Rest Within the Wake an immersive listening environment by James Allister Sprang
Dialogue II: Crossing the Horizon with Dejá Aaliyah Belardo, Firelei Báez, and Gervais Marsh
🪩 Closing DJ set by Ivan "Shie" Moreno.
FORGOTTEN LANDS EVENTS
The Armory Show with Khendrick Beausoleil
Last week we shared our guide to the Caribbean at The Armory Show. Now we're back from the floor to share some of our highlights from the show.
Caribbean art has never needed an art fair to tell it that it matters. We built FORGOTTEN LANDS on that belief. Still, it meant something to walk into New York's biggest fair and find the region at its center. Khendrick Beausoleil (@kblikesart) joined us on preview day to connect with artists and galleries and hear about their work firsthand.
Burnaway Book//Zine 002 at Goat Farm
